The first requirement is to set up a ‘scenario’ that is tailored to suit the individual or group involved, dependent on their age, background, requirements etc. The technique can be used beyond teaching to solve real subjective or objective decision making problems. Scenarios can vary from simple to extremely complex.
The following are typical decision making scenarios of ever increasing complexity, demonstrating the power of the technique.
Lifestyle decision: The first decision! Stay in the trees or descend to the planes….* Primary school decision: Choosing a pet for a class of 7/8 year olds* School decision: Spending a school budget* Family decision: House purchase* Family decision: Buying a car Personal decision: Choosing a job/career Personal decision: Psychological therapy Sport decision: Buying a football player for a team Industrial decision: One group [Sales] tries to sell something to another group [Buyers] Industrial decision: A problem has several solutions. Which is the best? Personnel recruitment decision: Who is the best candidate? Business Management decision: Solving a Dilemma.* Political decision: What to do regarding Israel/Palestine? Iraq? Iran?
